Hi there everybody,
this site is really great, as you heard so many times for sure. For me Dakar is really the most valuable passion, except my family of course. I was born in the same year as Dakar was, here in Slovakia, which means I have lack of informations about almost everything. Thanks to Dakar d'antan I finally know who was taking part in first yeras of Dakar. Now i desperately seek for list of starters for years 1987 - 1995. Does enyone have this in any form, which can be sent by mail? If it is so, please send it to my mail mufti@chello.sk. Thanks in advance.

In fact you're not the first to ask starters lists of other years... I guess that nobody has such a list ready to move through the web, most of us have books with these lists but copying them would be a very hard and long work ! Embarassed

I don't ever really tried to find something on the web, but you might find something, perhaps someone has done the work !
the easiest way for you to get these lists would be finding back some Dakar books; sometimes you can buy some for reasonable prices on Ebay.
this answer isn't surely the one you were expecting to, but talking about me it's the only thing I can say and do at the moment... Scanning books is quite impossible... Rolling Eyes

I own 7 of them. Some time ago i ordered 3 books from France, which were available and it cost me half of my salary Confused

The delivery time took weeks so as i see it for now, i will have to visit France and buy some books myself. I have many information from magazines published in late 80's, when Czechoslovak teams entered Dakar, but in early 90's one would think that Dakar is over, according to informations in magazines. There were almost none. Now it is much better, thanks to internet, especially when i find some historic informations. Your site is the source of very valuable information for me and i thank you for it.

thanks to dakardantan, internet and eBay i was able to finalize starting lists from 1979 to 1992, and from 1996 till now.
But still i'm short of years 1993, 1994 and 1995. Can please someone send me starting lists for these years?
