Bonjour,

Je crois qu'une précision sur la rapidité de José concernant tout ce qui sort des pistes est nécessaire.
Il faut te dire que si tu as ce renseignement ce ne sera pas de suite !
José et Xavier sont tous 2 des gens très occupés.
Un peu de patience ...
Pas d'infos à partager de ton côté ?

Effectivement...Celà remonte à une époque où nous avons été "spamés".
Toutes nos photos avaient disparu!!!! Nous en avons remis une grosse partie mais celles-ci sont passé à travers.
Je corrige ça ce soir!!!

Hello everyone.
With great pleasure i read this story of Kouros participation on 88 Dakar. I have some more questions about it.
1st - What position were Auriol and Lapeyre on after the prologue?
2nd - Did Lapeyre retire because of crash and broken arm or so?
3rd - Any other races for these buggies? from somewhere i got, that Auriol finished 9th on Rallye de Tunisie and retired from Rallye de l'Atlas. 4th - Is that all? How and where ended life of these buggies?

I gonna try to answer about all your questions:

1st - What position were Auriol and Lapeyre on after the prologue?

Auriol finished 9th in the prologue. I dont know the result of Lapeyre but he isn't in the 20 first places.

2nd - Did Lapeyre retire because of crash and broken arm or so?

Lapeyre retire in the first stage, between El-Oued and Hassi-Messaoud. He "tanked" in dunes, succeed in keeping on driving with the help of Jérome Boussier on the Range Kouros but the buggy broke its motor during this stage. it was obliged to retire!

3rd - Any other races for these buggies? from somewhere i got, that Auriol finished 9th on Rallye de Tunisie and retired from Rallye de l'Atlas.

Yes, you're right.Auriol finished the rallye of Tunisie, retired in the rallye of Atlas the last day of race (arm of wheel broken). The buggy raced another race, a Baja but Auriol broke the gearbox...

4th - Is that all? How and where ended life of these buggies?

Just after the Baja, the sponsor KOUROS retired and Auriol had to search money to raced the Dakar. He found "LOTO" and decided to modifiate his buggy with a new body and a new motor; That was the end of those buggy Kouros!!!

Can you tell me whose is that No.203 buggy? Auriol, Lapeyre, Joineau, then Vatanen, but who is between them? Anyone has a picture? Thanks in advance.

the buggy n°203 was driven by a pilot called Patrick Thenoux. He already raced in 1980:

both times on a french vehicule called COURNIL.

In 1988, he raced for the third time on a buggy with a diesel engine; He retired very soon in the earlier stages in Algeria.

bonjour,

je suis en possession des 2 chassis KOUROS avec leur carrosserie originale qui ont encore leurs déco dakar !dont un roulant et complet sans le moteur VW original ,les buggy "loto" à priori ont été montés à partir d'autres chassis, car les kouros etaient monoplaces et le loto biplace

On veut bien quelques photos des bêtes aujourd'hui.
On fera suivre à Xavier Lapeyre qui pourra ainsi voir le buggy aujourd'hui !
